We have family coming to visit over the Easter and School Holidays. My little sister and her sweet daughters live in London, so we do not see each other often enough (every day would be just about right in my opinion)…
We are in for a fabulous Sydney holiday, the kids will have a ball together (my two tweens and three nieces and a nephew). Luckily lovely Seana from Sydney Kids Food + Travel has our activities sorted via her super blog – fantastic Playgrounds and kid friendly cafes and other things to do in Sydney.
It’s just when the party has finished and I am left sobbing – and the boys are left with a week of school holidays to fill – how to cheer me up and keep them occupied and away from electronics?
Both boys like to bake and I love to eat CAKE (several slices might help with the tears…). A win, win. Here are a couple of cake recipes that make for easy kids cooking, great for them to bake alone (or if you have younger ones they might need a hand).
I think everyone needs a good Chocolate Cake recipe in their repertoire, this one makes a huge baking tray size and NEVER fails…and it doesn’t require heaps of faffing with the preparation. The Orange Cake recipe comes via my cousin in New Zealand (Kiwi’s know how to bake) – it seriously takes 10 minutes to make and is a lovely afternoon tea or a FANTASTC dessert when served with ice-cream…ENJOY!
What are your favourite cake recipes to bake (with or without kids…)?
