Be-The-Star-Of-Your-Own-Show

The shape of your Grown Up’s Gap Year will be unique – let conversations and/or your pen flow, allowing the surprises to unfold. Use these prompts as springboards for inspiration, adventure, and joyful seeking. Remember, this is your journey – time to put YOU in the picture.

  1. If you could design your ideal day, what would it look like from start to finish? Don’t be stingy on dreaming – make this several pages of joy.
  2. What’s a skill you’ve always wanted to learn but haven’t yet? Why not, now?
  3. Recall a time when you stepped out of your comfort zone. What did you discover about your inner superwoman?
  4. Identify five areas in your life – be they physical or emotional – that are overdue for a good clear-out. Embrace your inner minimalist and watch how a little simplification can make room for so much more. Write these down.
  5. Describe a moment when you felt truly empowered. Was it when you finally mastered the art of saying ‘no’ without apologising?

  7. Describe your perfect solo adventure. Where would you go? Why?
  8. What’s a childhood dream you’ve neglected? Is it time to revive that ambition?
  9. Write a letter to your younger self. What wisdom would you impart? (Besides ‘Don’t get that haircut!’)
  10. How has your definition of success changed over the years? Is it less about the corner office and more about cornering joy?
  11. What’s a fear you’d like to confront during your Grown Up’s Gap Year? How might facing it add to your journey?

  13. Describe a place where you feel utterly at peace. How can you bottle that essence and sprinkle it liberally throughout your (every) day?
  14. What’s a compliment you rarely give yourself? It’s time to become your own biggest fan – no autographs necessary.
  15. Recall a moment of serendipity in your life. What was it and how can you leave more doors ajar for happy accidents to wander in?
  16. Who is your style muse? What do you admire most about their approach, and how can you infuse a bit of that inspiration into your own look?
  17. Which book turned your world upside down (in a good way)? How might its lessons serve as a compass for your Grown Up’s Gap Year?
  18. Sketch out your dream community. What values would it embody, and how might you sprinkle some of that magic into your current surroundings?
  19. What conversation have you been tiptoeing around? How might having it clear the path for your next adventure?
  20. Design your ideal morning routine. How can it lay the groundwork for days that buzz with energy and purpose?
  21. Which relationship in your life could use some TLC? How might nurturing it add more to your world?
  22. What limiting belief are you ready to shed? Write a story about letting it go.
  23. Describe a moment when you felt completely in tune with nature. How can you recreate that harmony in your day (even if your environs are more urban than jungle)? Let your imagination run; what do you smell, see, feel, hear?
  24. What personal boundary are you ready to draw in permanent marker? How will it protect your energy for the adventures ahead?
  25. What steps might you take to start to feel better, now? Make a list,
  26. What new experience are you itching to try? Put your best emotive language into writing it down.
