In my opinion the saying ‘youth is wasted on the young’ should be rewritten as ‘sleeping in is wasted on the young’…

One of life’s simple pleasures is awaking with nothing on the Agenda except a lie-in.
Add coffee and a spectacular view – well that is unadulterated luxury.

In Bed with the Best View
InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa
Because I wax ad nauseam about this property – no matter how far and wide I roam, I am hard pressed to find the level of relaxation I achieve gazing over Natadola Bay.

Anantara Male, Maldives
Because I haven’t visited the Maldives. I love early morning swims – just 10 paces from bed to the sea. Now that is luxury I would love to experience.

Wharekauhau Lodge Wairarapa, New Zealand
In a former life I spent two nights in this Lodge. I cannot recall a better sleep – the sound of silence and distant rolling waves beckoning the deepest of slumber. One night the stars shone so bright they woke me – a midnight bath, gazing at the sky.

InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, Vietnam
On a recent visit to Vietnam it was a coin toss between this property and another situated on the river. I don’t often regret my travel decisions – however on the day of our departure our plane flew over this resort, too late I realised my mistake. If not only for the views – the black and white bed linen makes me swoon.

The Peninsula Hong Kong
My love of the worlds great cities is well documented – Hong Kong is no exception. The light show over Victoria Harbour, the constant parade of ferries, and buildings that reach well beyond the horizon. If you can drag yourself out of bed (the bed in this room was one of the most comfortable I have slept in – Quagliotti bedlinen) and away from the view, the shopping is the best in the world.
