Beauty junkies know luxury needn’t mean expensive; that it is more about the experience delivered, and less about the price tag.
Since these 5 beauty products came across my radar, I have rarely been without them. If they can’t be found online I beg friends to purchase on my behalf, or stock up on my return to the destination. Each of these items are basic essentials, (Chanel fragrance is an essential – is it not…), yet they make me feel luxurious when I use them. Enjoy…(prices shown are approximate).
1. Le Petit Marseillais
My pick of this range is the Oil for very Dry Skin. It smells divine, goes on like a dream after showering and a bottle lasts for ages. Part of an inexpensive product range for children (their shampoos leave you with baby soft hair). Readily available in stores such as Monoprix and local pharmacies around Paris. Available on Amazon ($18).
2. LÓreal Age Perfect Extrodinary Facial Oil
The little bottle with the long name. This product is now readily available at Priceline ($39.99, although it does regularily go on sale). I first spied it in a Denver Walmart, falling in love immediately as it kept the freezing alpine air from turning my face into lizard skin. Smells stunning and a little goes a long way. Reminds me of the Clarins Facial Oils (at a fraction of the price).
3. Chanel Les Exclusifs fragrance, Sycomore
An extravagant purchase first made on a Luxury Escape with the husband. I needed wanted a new bottle of this glorious Woody scent; by chance I investigated the boutique in the foyer of The Imperial Hotel New Delhi. To my delight it was at least $40 less than I had previously paid. I now look in favourite boutiques around the globe, you never know what gem you might unearth. Available in Australia at David Jones Elizabeth Street and Chanel Boutiques.
4. Clairol Shimmer Lights Shampoo and Conditioner for Blondes
These beauties are also available in Brunette and Red formulas. I do love being blonde, although I dislike it when too much swimming or washing gives my hair a yellow tinge. This Clairol shampoo and conditioner combo leaves me just the shade I prefer…prior to our trip to Seattle (which if you haven’t been, is well worth the effort), I had read this product was a favourite of stylish doyenne Linda Rodin. I agree with her, it is amazing. Available on Amazon ($13).
5. Nest – Roller ball fragrance in Midnight Fleur
A gorgeous musky blend of florals (there are six different options of scents in this range). The handy size is perfect for touch ups during the day (and travel). I first sniffed this in Sephora in Los Angeles; before the store arrived in Sydney (is anyone else not feeling Sephora in Australia, I still save my splurges on their product for when I travel). You can buy Nest fragrances on their online store. Sephora online ($68).
