The Eastern Suburbs of Sydney – Travel Guide

THERE IS BEAUTY TO BE FOUND…wherever you might reside around the globe…

However familiarity can breed complacency; it is good to take stock (or in this instance, photos) –  look around your environment – get out and enjoy what is on offer. The Eastern Suburbs of Sydney have been in full bloom – I’ve spent time reflecting just how gorgeous Sydney is in Spring…enjoy the tour…

The Beaches

World renowned; Sculpture by the Sea (now in it’s 18th year) ran for nearly three weeks – we took several trips along the 2km stunning coastal walk; backdrop for the 100 plus sculptures.  This event seems to mark the countdown to Christmas on our family’s calendar…As does a dip in the ocean, still brisk from Winter currents – it’s exhilarating and a hint of what is to come – picnics; Father Christmas photos; and weekends away; and a more relaxed vibe….

The Harbour

Recognisable from any angle; Sydney Harbour glistens in all weather (we have experienced some spectacular storms recently). The season of parties on the Harbour; dawn walks down to the bay; and adventures (the Harbour Bridge Walk) is just beginning.

Historic Paddington

My home.  It is no secret that Autumn is my favourite season; however Spring in Paddington is hard to beat. Jacaranda trees heaving with lavender blossom dominate the cityscape – diners spill onto pavement tables; the suburb comes alive after Winter hibernation.

Double Bay – new beginnings

Great excitement in Double Bay last week as Sydney’s only 5 Star hotel outside the CBD opened.  Intercontinental Double Bay welcomed it’s first guests – I cannot wait to see the beautiful makeover for myself (approximately $25 million was spent to transform what was the old Ritz Carlton). First reports indicate it was money well invested…

Christmas is coming…

I love that I can still coerce The Boys to have a Father Christmas photo – no doubt they will get their revenge; probably in the form of refusal to visit me in my old peoples home (haven’t found Santa yet this year…on the look out)…
